8The Peter and Paul Altar  In the Church's tradition, Peter and Paul are considered as the two apostles of Jesus, on whose faith and preaching the church is built in a special way. They are not the builders of the church, but Jesus Christ himself is the builder. Because the two apostles are buried in Rome, they are especially revered in the Western Church. In each of the eight confessionals in the side chapels, the priest grants the reconciling love of God to all people who confess their guilt and repent. |
