26The Crypt  The crypt under the altar is the burial place for the donor couple of St. Michael, the Duke Wilhelm V and Renata of Lothringen, and her eldest son, Duke and Elector Maximilian. Further members of the Wittelsbach family also found their final resting place here. The pomp sarcophagus for King Ludwig II (1845-1886) gets particular attention by visitors. This part of the former court church is still in possession of the Wittelsbach family. To visit the crypt an entrance fee has to be paid. |
